Affirming Life
We
believe that human life has inherent dignity and is worthy of
celebration. We hope our patients will live life to its fullest.
Coastal Hospice will neither hasten nor unduly postpone death for
those who are terminally ill. We will strive to alleviate pain, to
provide physical comfort, to encourage emotional and spiritual
growth, to foster reconciliation, and to enhance each patient's
relationship with others.
Respect
We
respect the dignity of all who serve and are served by Coastal
Hospice. We honor each patient's privacy and right to make decisions
concerning treatment. We encourage each colleague's professional
development. We will foster a work environment characterized by
effective teamwork, clear direction, and recognition of individual
contributions.
Compassion
We
will respond promptly with our presence to patients and families
needing assurance, guidance, and relief from suffering. We encourage
caring, support, comfort, communication, understanding, empathy, and
listening.
Trust
Trust is the bond which holds a community together; open and honest
communication is essential for our work. Our patients and families
have unique responsibilities and capabilities for providing care and
we trust them to make good decisions. Reciprocally, we hope to
deserve their trust and that of our community.
Commitment
We
are committed to the highest standards of care and recognize the
personal relationship with each patient this requires. We pledge to
provide care regardless of the patient's ability to pay. We will
lead in educating others about hospice and home care. We will
fulfill our responsibilities to staff, volunteers, attending
physicians, colleagues in health care, clergy, supporters media, and
the community at large.
Quality
We
will improve the quality of our services continually. Each associate
is a partner in fostering Coastal Hospice growth and development and
is empowered to respond caringly to our patients and their families.
