Luncheon and dinner socials provide an opportunity for anyone who has lost a loved one to meet with others and share support. There may be a featured speaker who can address topics related to grief and loss. Participants are asked to pay for their own meal. Please call 410-742-8732 to register before the event.
The Challenge will lead teams of participants through a wooded obstacle course in the woods behind Mardela Middle and High School. It is a beautiful setting and the participants will be led through challenges,activities and discussions that relate to bereavement.
Parents are encouraged to participate with their children. Because the challenge takes place outdoors, participants must wear closed toed shoes or sneakers. Lunch will be provided. The challenge runs from 9 am until 1 pm. In case of rain, the Challenge will take place on July 23.
Coastal Hospice hopes that children and their parents who are working through grief will take advantage of this unique opportunity.

Jazz at Bordeleau will bring nationally known artist and composer Gregg Karukas , contemporary jazz artist Slim Man, as well as local favorite Pam Miller to one of the more picturesque locations in Wicomico County.
“We wanted to throw a great party for a great organization,”says Event Co-Chair and Coastal Hospice Board Member Pat Dempsey. “So we looked for the best performers we could bring, while also making Jazz at Bordeleau an event those who love Coastal Hospice would enjoy.”
Coastal Hospice President Alane Capen is looking forward to a wonderful evening of music and art.
“We’re fortunate to have such creative volunteers organizing Jazz at Bordeleau,” Capen says. They’ve brought in nationally known musicians,and are also highlighting local artists.”
This event will also feature an auction of plein air paintings created by artists from the region, including Leslie Belloso, Ed Challenger, Lois Engberg, Lynne Lockhart, Kirk McBride, Nancy Mysak, Carole Pierson, Jim Rehak, Nancy West and Suzanne Wilson.
The setting for the event is the Bordeleau Vineyards and Winery in Eden, Md. Black Diamond Catering will provide a buffet dinner for those with premium tickets. Dinner items will be for sale to those who purchase general admission tickets. The music begins at 5:30 pm and will continue until10 pm. Proceeds from the event will support the work of Coastal Hospice.
“We never turn away a patient who lacks the resources to pay us,” Capen says. “Events such as these help us reach all those in our area who would benefit from hospice care.”
