DEC 2021 EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH

Jan 19, 2022 | Employee of the Month

Sherlaine Cornish

Sherlaine, who also goes by Lainey, is a Hospice Aide on our Safe Harbor team and has been with Coastal Hospice for almost three (3) years. She is being recognized this month for consistently going above and beyond for her patients and families. It’s inspiring and easy to see that she loves what she does, by always having a smile on her face and putting a smile on the faces of her patients and coworkers, even in the most difficult of times.

Lainey grew up in Cambridge, MD but resides in Easton. She is a mother to one, her son Tymaine, her gift from God. She has been a nursing assistant CGNA/CMT since 2007 and has always had a heart for people and helped anyway she could since she was a child. Lainey said what helps her do a great job with her patients is that she treats them as if they were her loved ones, because she knows how she would want to be treated if the tables were turned. Lainey said that we don’t know how our life will end or what the future holds for us, so we should always respect each other, love, help, cherish what we have and pray always.

Nominations for Sherlaine:

Sherlaine, known as Lainey, is an outstanding aide who goes above and beyond for all her patients. Patients love the care she provides and the love she gives.

Sherlaine was my teacher for the road. I love the way she loves what she does as a job… She always keeps a smile on her face when days are going rough. She’s my light. She has been here for three years and knows all the tricks and trades to keep a smile on a patient face, even in the mist of a down slide.

Lainey arrived at facility, saw patient was in distress, and called Primary nurse immediately. She then waited for nurse to arrive, which took some time due to location of patient and stayed with nurse until patient passing. She provided care for patient after passing. I have seen Lainey go above and beyond for several patients and she keeps the nurse informed of changes in the patient’s condition.

Constantly goes above and beyond for all her patients and their families, no matter how many are on her schedule.

Great aide who goes above for patients and family…She is loving, caring and takes pride in her work. She is the aide for the entire Dorchester area. Most of her patients ask for her only. All love her, and not for just the care she provides. It shows that she loves what she does.
