Ocean Pines, MD – January 12, 2021 – Coastal Hospice is the recipient of a $5,000.00 gift in memory of Bruce “Boo Boo” Shaffer who was cared for by our team at Stansell House in Ocean Pines. This gracious donation was made by his wife, Pam Shaffer and his brother and sister-in-law, Smokey and Sally Shaffer who are all residents of the Ocean Pines Community.

During a heartwarming conversation with our President, Monica Escalante and our Director of Advancement, Tammy Patrick, Pam Shaffer shared, “Stansell House staff was excellent, they went above and beyond to accommodate visits from family members, alternating them in and out due to COVID restrictions – our only regret is that we didn’t come here sooner.” Smokey added, “We never walked out of these doors at Stansell House worried that he wasn’t going to be taken care of.”

We are grateful for the Shaffer family and the trust they placed in Coastal Hospice for the care of their loved one. It was our honor to care for Mr. Bruce Shaffer and their generous donation will allow us to continue our mission to promote dignity and quality of life for patients and families who face life-limiting conditions.
