JULY 2021 EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH

Alvin Harmon

Alvin works in our Compass department and has been with Coastal Hospice for over four years. He is being recognized this month for his outstanding performance with the We Honor Veterans program, sincere dedication to our patients and families and extraordinary teamwork.

Alvin is an Eastern Shore Native who loves to lend a helping hand wherever he goes. He spent his full military career with the US Army, stationed at Ft. Wainwright, AK. An invitation to join the Coastal Hospice family was extended to him, while receiving a Clinical Pastoral Education through the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy.

“Alvin’s contributions aren’t limited to one month. He is an ambassador for Coastal Hospice in everything he does. Alvin took over doing We Honor Veterans visits during the pandemic since we couldn’t have volunteers going out. He made it his priority because he felt so strongly that these patients deserved the dignity of that visit…Alvin promotes the mission of Coastal Hospice in everything he does, providing dignity and compassion to our patients and being a wonderful co-worker and team player.”

“…While our regular volunteers were not able to visit patients, Alvin continued to visit our veteran patients and provide them with a final salute, certificate, blanket, and visit with the patient as well as the family. He even sings! We receive feedback from many of our families stating how much their loved ones appreciated this special visit. Alvin never hesitated to visit a veteran and always made himself available. Alvin has been a true team player during the pandemic and a blessing to all the veterans and families that he has visited.”
