Our Programs

Founded in 1980, Coastal Hospice provides traditional hospice services, counseling and grief support, and community resources to the residents of Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore. Through all avenues of our work, we strive to fulfill the life goals of each individual we meet.

Pre-Hospice Care

When you or your loved one is not yet ready for traditional hospice care but is facing a life-limiting condition, consider one of our pre-hospice care options. These programs provide treatment and support, not only to patients, but also to those who love and care for them.

How Will I Know When It’s Time?

Have you or the person you’re concerned about visited the emergency room or hospital more than once in the past 6 months?

Have you made more than one late-night or weekend call to the doctor?

Are you too ill to keep doctors’ appointments?

Have you stopped improving with medical treatments?

Are you suffering from one or more complications? (for example, pneumonia, weight loss or skin ulcers)

Do you need help to bathe, dress or eat?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, the time is now. Reach out to our admissions team below to learn how Coastal Hospice can help.

Insurance and Financial

The services provided by Coastal Hospice are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance policies. If you don’t have medical insurance, Coastal Hospice offers a sliding scale based on financial need.

As a nonprofit organization, Coastal Hospice receives donations from the community that help cover the cost of caring for patients who lack financial resources. No one is ever turned away, regardless of their ability to pay.
