Coastal Hospice Launches “Be An Angel” Campaign Featuring Its Classic Angel Ornament

Nov 12, 2021 | News Releases

BERLIN, MD – November 12, 2021 – For many families, it’s an annual tradition. Each holiday season, Coastal Hospice encourages its Lower Shore neighbors to be “angels” by including the organization in their year-end giving. Many residents look for the “Be an Angel” mailing with the inspiring Christmas tree ornament so they can honor or remember those they love.

This year’s theme is Life is full of moments that only you and your angels share. The campaign launches in early November, and angel ornaments can be found on Coastal Hospice Christmas trees displayed across the region from November 26 through December 31.

“While the medical care we provide is covered by Medicare and insurance, there are gaps, especially for low-income and indigent patients,” said Tammy Patrick, Director of Advancement for Coastal Hospice. “These donations deliver crucial financial support and enable us to continue providing care for all.”

This year, in addition to donating by mail, contributions can be made on the Coastal Hospice website ( or by using their new texting program (text “ANGEL” to 345-345). For donations made in these ways, donors should include the name of their “angel” so that Coastal Hospice can write it on the ornament. They should also note who Coastal Hospice should notify of the donation, including name and address. The amount of your donation will not be disclosed.

The Be an Angel Appeal helps support vital Coastal Hospice programs, such as offsetting room and board costs at Macky & Pam Stansell House and Coastal Hospice at the Lake, and sustaining the organization’s year-long Bereavement Program which is free to those who are grieving.

Beginning right after Thanksgiving through the end of the year, WMDT Morning News, a media partner in the campaign for several years, will read the names written on some of the angel ornaments on their newscasts, a segment many honorees, donors, family and friends look forward to.

This year’s Angel Tree locations include:

  • WMDT Morning News
  • Atlantic Hotel – Berlin
  • Coastal Hospice Thrift Shop – Berlin
  • Crisfield Elks Lodge #1044
  • Crisfield American Legion Post #16
